SIX budding authors from Trellech School have been rewarded for their excellent original stories.

Local author Brian Fearn who has written several children's novels set a competition for the pupils to write their own short stories.

The competition was split into an older and younger category with children across the age groups showing great pride in their work.

Winners were awarded with books written by Mr Fearn in a special school assembly last Friday (10th October).

First prize in the older category was scooped by Onnen Denman Tanner. He said: "I love reading books and have always wanted to be an author.

"Anthony Horowitz is my inspiration."

Second prize in the upper category went to Rory Bredemear-Walters and third prize was awarded to Kate Rogers.

In the lower age category Ruby Jones scooped first prize, Mia Evans came in second and Katie Mee was awarded third prize.

Brian Fearn said: "All the stories were fantastic and the standard of writing was just superb."
