AN investigation has been launched after a claim was made of asbestos exposure within company Dishlex (GB) Ltd at their factory in Monmouth.

The factory on Hadnock Road, Monmouth, produced dishwashers during the 1950s and 1960s, and is being investigated by Irwin Mitchell solicitors following the asbestos claim.

An appeal for information from those that worked at the Dishlex factory in the 1950s and 1960’s has been made by the solicitors. They want to speak with anyone who might have details about the presence of asbestos in the manufacturing process and on site during this time.

Dishlex have since left the Monmouth area, and the factory unit on Hadnock Road was most recently used by Castle Corregated Ltd.

The factory now stands empty, although plans to transform the brownfield site into a hotel and spa are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Irwin Mitchel solicitors said: “If you worked at this factory during the 1950s and 1960s and would be able to provide details of the working practices there, and the presence of any asbestos on site or used within the manufacturing process, please contact Kim Barrett of Irwin Mitchell solicitors on 0121 214 5211.”
