Sir,
In answer to Jim Duncan's letter (Beacon, 2nd February). Monmouth has gained and lost over the last few years, we all know where and some may wonder why.
The Conservative county council has increased the council tax, their allowances and speculated in Iceland.
It is easy for Jim and the Tories to blame the past Labour Government.
Jim may have liked to see the independant banks fail. That would have been an end to Capitalism as we know it.
What choice was there? No plan to fall back, the public will come to the rescue, effects now unwinding.
Presently, George Osborne is working hard to implement Tory ideology, and already taking credit for policies put into effect by the last Government. Never mind we're all in this together. What a comforting thought.
