A professional actress is returning to her home town next month to lead two creative workshops.

Jennifer Kidd, a former Chepstow Comprehensive pupil, trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and is set to play the title role in Larisa and the Merchants at London's Arcola Theatre in May 2013.

She will be sharing her skills and experience in two workshops hosted by Monmouthshire-based Commusication at Chepstow Leisure Centre on 24th November.

After graduating from St John's College, Cambridge, in History, Jennifer trained for three years at RADA supported by The Adhoc Theatre Company of Newport and the RADA Bursary Scheme.

This was to mark the start of an interesting and varied career which has so far involved performing with internationally-acclaimed companies such as Shakespeare's Globe and Cheek by Jowl.

She has appeared in London, Paris, New York, and across Europe and the USA. Jennifer also loves teaching and coaching and has done so extensively in London and the US.

"I'm fortunate to have been surrounded by inspiring, creative, supportive people from a young age," she said.

"With the transportation of two brilliant parent-drivers, South Wales was quite literally my 'playground' and there was great opportunity to get involved with theatre when I was growing up.

"When I was nine years old I joined Chepstow Amateur Operatic Society and took part in plays at school. Things started snowballing after I joined the brilliant Gwent Young Person's Theatre in Abergavenny with Steve Badman and Gary Meredith.

"Soon I was performing at the Dolman in Newport, with Derek and Eira Richard's wonderful Ad Hoc Theatre Company at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall, and with the fantastic National Youth Theatre of Wales, whose company I was part of three times.

"The cultural wealth of Wales enriched my life immeasurably as I grew up and provided a vital step towards the training which would form the foundation of my profession.

"I'm truly excited that Commusication have offered me the opportunity to share some of my training and ideas I've formulated through working in theatre around the world, in the place where it all began for me, I want to bring some good vibrations home."
