SIR,

In this world, wherever you go the Health and Safety regulations come to the fore in work or pleasure.

Yet in Oak Crescent, Wyesham, a metal fence which was crushed when the 1,000 year old oak tree fell on it, has been left in this condition for more than six months.

It is a complete danger.

The young children who play in the area are running the risk of injury everyday and the residents could not hold a street party for the royal wedding because of the dangers.

The morning the tree fell there were council workers and their bosses swarming around the tree. Why can't they finish the job?

The fence, which was not wanted by a lot of residents, is now obsolete as only the trunk of the tree is left standing.

Instead of spending money and time repairing the fence, why not take it away altogether?

A resident of Oak Crescent, Mrs Colin Williams, has collected a lot of signatures for a petition to hand into the town council. A copy of this letter will also be forwarded to them.

Let us have some action on this matter.

John Morgan
