AN ELEVEN-year-old schoolgirl was approached by an unknown man on the way to school last Tuesday (10th October).

The girl was stopped on Osbaston Road, Monmouth on her way to Monmouth Comprehensive School and was asked by a man in a silver car if she wanted a lift. When she turned down the man’s offer, he reportedly offered again, saying the child “looked cold”.

The offence occurred sometime between 8.20am and 8.30am.

The man has been described as white, driving a silver car with blacked out rear windows, the model of the car is possibly a Ford Mondeo.

A spokesperson from Gwent Police said: “We would like to stress that no-one was hurt and this appears to be an isolated incident.

“At this time enquiries are ongoing and officers would like to reassure the public an investigation is underway to locate the man.”
