Tributes are being paid to a 26-year-old man from Monmouth after the body of a man has been found inside a building in Newport.
Callum Harris was reported as missing on May 8 and was last seen in Cambrian Road, Newport at 10.25am that Friday, having reportedly taken a taxi from the town to the city the previous evening.
Tributes posted on social media included one from Creates Restaurant in Church Street Monmouth which said: “We are so deeply saddened to hear that our colleague and friend, Callum, has passed away. This was not the news every single one of us was praying for.
”Although he hadn't worked with us for long, Callum made a lasting impression on all of us.
“He was an absolute pleasure to work alongside—always bringing the kindest energy and a gentle soul to the team, with such endless talent .
“He quickly became much more than a colleague, he became a true friend to us all! You were one of the good ones Callum.
”Please keep Callum's family in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in peace our friend.”
His mum Claire also posted: “I’ve had so many messages and love sent about my boy Callum, it breaks my heart to let you all know Callum has passed away. As a family as you can imagine, we are absolutely heartbroken”.
Police have now confirmed Callum’s death.
Gwent Police said: “We received a report that a body had been found in a building in Chepstow Road, Newport on Sunday 24 May.
“Formal identification has now taken place, and confirmed to be Callum Harris, who had been reported as missing.
