GWENT Police is appealing for information after an armed robbery in Portskewett.
A man entered the Spar store in the village at around 9.50pm on Sunday 20th March.
He was described as carrying a black handgun.
The man threatened staff in the store, before leaving with a quantity of cash from the till which he carried away in an orange drawstring carrier bag with ‘CEX’ as part of the logo for the ‘CEX Entertainment Exchange’ chain of stores.
The offender is described as a white male, slim build, wearing light brown boots, blue jeans, a dark hooded top, with another darker hooded top underneath.
The lower part of his face was covered and the hood of the inner jacket was up over his head.
The extensive investigation into this incident is continuing and patrols will remain in the area. Whilst the incident was extremely distressing for the people working at the store, no one was seriously injured.
Gwent Police is appealing for witnesses or anyone who can help to identify the offender and would ask anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident number GWP20160320-0571.
