A 42-YEAR-OLD man was killed in a crash on the A449 yesterday (3rd January).

The crash took place near the Usk turnoff and involved one vehicle.A man from Hertfordshire was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson from Gwent Police said: “At approximately 9.30am on Sunday 3rd January, Gwent Police received reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A449 southbound heading towards Newport, near the Usk turnoff”.

The man has not yet officially been named.

The A449 was closed southbound for several hours and diversions were put in place.
