YOUNG fencer Olivia Barbieri put her injury woes behind her when she returned to competition on Sunday (24th January), winning the silver medal at the Welsh Youth Open.

Olivia, 13, lives in Rogiet and is in Year 8 at Caldicot School. She is a member of Team Melia Cymru and trains twice a week at Chepstow Leisure Centre and Monmouth School.

After her best performance at the event at Sophia Garden, Olivia said she loved competing again and is looking forward to her next competition, the British Championship qualifiers next month.
