A RECORD number of runners took part in this year's Kymin Dash in Monmouth on Sunday, (19th April) and thanks to a fast course this year due to the dry weather, all records were broken, including a new King and Queen of the Hill.

Out of the 250 runners that took part, Huw Evans, pictured centre beat the race record with a time of 39 minutes, 50 seconds.

Huw, running for Les Croupiers, also took the King of the Hill award being the first to the top of The Kymin.

Andrew Stephens, left, came in second, and Paul Murrin from Chepstow came in third.

The first female back was Emma Wookey with a new course record of 44 minutes and 32 seconds, setting a new record for the Queen of the Hill.

Kymin Race Director Emma King, pictured left with race winner Huw Evans, said: "Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered, sponsored the event or ran as without you there wouldn't be an event to organise.

"Thanks especially to Trevor Kingdon at Wild Boar Events for providing the chip timing, Monmouth School Sports Club and Walford Timber for being sponsors for the event, The National Trust, Mountain Fuel, Bosum Buddies and Primal Pantry for supporting the event on the day."

All funds raised will be donated to Action Duchenne, because a member of the Spirit of Monmouth Running Club, who organised the event, has a teenage son affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and this will once again be matched by Barclays Bank.
