THE Penallt junior tennis tournament was split into two groups according to age and experience.

Playing in the younger group were Coco and Wanda Payne, Emily Blair, Emilia Tinch, Olivia Harling, George Chapman and Morgan Hicks.

They did a series of tennis related activities including rallying and serving. When the points were added up Emily and Wanda both finished on 36.

They had a very close play off and after a number of deuces Wanda was the winner with Emily receiving the runner up shield.

The older group played a round robin singles tournament so each player played against the other five players.

The players were Alex Handley, Jack Buckner, Alex Wright, Niamh O’Doherty, Cameron Wright and Alex Hicks.

Again the results were very close with Alex Handley finishing one game ahead of Jack Buckner who was one game ahead of Alex Hicks.

It was good to see how they have all progressed as a result of coaching and there were some very impressive rallies and many excellent well placed winning shots.
