ALL-rounder Ben Pilot is the new captain of Monmouth Cricket Club’s midweek seniors' team, and will lead them in this season’s Forest of Dean Hundred League.

He replaces outgoing skipper Ben McCluskey, who did a first-class job during his tenure.

Last summer, Monmouth finished runners-up to Cinderford St John in the Forest Hundred final, having earlier headed the league table in the nine-club competition.

Club secretary Dave Walters said: “We saw a steady improvement in on/field results in the past few seasons, culminating in last season’s cup final appearance and the committee recognises the outstanding contribution made by Ben McCluskey.

“We would like to express our utmost thanks to outgoing captain Ben and wish the new team captain, Ben Pilot, the very best of luck for 2026.”

Meanwhile, Monmouth’s seniors’ pre-season indoor training continues this Sunday (February 22) at Monmouth Leisure Centre Sports Hall on Old Dixton Road.

Women's team training starts at 10am, while nets for seniors and U15s begins at 11am.
