Teenagers at Penallt Tennis Club took part in a tournament last weekend in near-perfect conditions.
Twelve players were involved in the American-style tournament, swapping partners in the middle of each round to play with and against as many people as possible.
The players were Lizzy Widdicks, Becky Ashford, Cameron Pardington, Arran Robbie, Sam and Harry Sully, Dan Waterstone, Angus Packman, Jacob Powell, Katy Mather and Sam and Tom Smith.
Coach Adam Davis was really happy with the standard of tennis.
"There were endless fast and lengthy rallies and it is good to see such a keen and competitive bunch of tennis players," he said.
"A special mention for the three girls. Becky and Katie both played well and Lizzie had some fantastic returns of serve.
"Now for the boys, Angus was putting the ball away at the net, Harry was the king of flukie shots and Tom was making his court run to change ends so as to get the maximum amount of playing time."
At the end of the competition, Tom was the winner having clocked up 25 games, Arran Robbie was a close second with 22, Dan Waterstone was third with 16, and there was a tie for fourth with Becky and Lizzy both scoring 15 games.
The older group of teenagers play their tournament this Friday evening (4th October).
