TEENAGER Logan Price is set to compete in the world youth mixed martial arts (MMA) championships in Abu Dhabi after being selected for the Cymru youth squad.
The 16-year-old Monmouth Comprehensive pupil travelled to Dublin in Ireland to represent Wales in the Irish Youth MMA Open in April, with two very close fights.
He also competed in Dragon fights, where he won a gold medal, then in May took part in the MMA Cymru Welsh Youth Championship and won a silver medal in his category.
And as a result of his success, Logan has now been selected to represent his country in the IMMAF World Championships in the United Arab Emirates this August.
Logan’s mum Katie Price said Logan has enjoyed sport from a young age.
He started playing football and rugby for Monmouth before deciding to try MMA in 2022 when he was 12 years old.
“He instantly took a liking to it and showed good skills from the start,” said Katie.
His interest in MMA was pursued when he began training with Monmouth MMA at The Un1t in Wonastow Road in 2023, where he solely focused on martial arts, including MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, committing to training five days a week.
“He is very passionate about the sport and puts everything into it, now training at least 12-plus hours a week, as he enjoys it so much,” added Katie. “He also began teaching the younger students.”
Looking ahead, Logan is seeking sponsorship and would welcome donations to help fund his trip, as the event is entirely self-funded.
