ortunately, the Teenage tournaments were played before the brief spell of summer weather disappeared.

Playing in the younger group were Matt Handley, Alexia Guppy and Daniel Mills.

They each played matches against the other two competitors.

The standard was very impressive with some excellent deep returns of serve onto the backhand of their opponent.

There were numerous lengthy rallies and a lot of very close games with many deuces.

The results were also very close with Matt winning by one game. Dan was the runner up and Alexia third.

Playing in the older group were Binah and Seamus Cooper, Lydia and Chris Widdicks, Alex Jones and Molly Winder.

They played a round robin with each player playing against the other five in the group.

Again the standard was high and the tournament was a friendly battle against old rivals.

They were thinking about their game and not always hitting the ball as hard as possible but managing to place the ball and include some crafty drop shots.

Chris Widdicks finished in first place ahead of the rest of the field. There was a tie for second place with Seamus and Alex both finishing with the same number of games.

When they had played each other it had resulted in a draw so they were both declared runners up.
