MONROSS Trailblazers tackled another fell race this bank holiday weekend with a seven mile slog to the top of the Sugar Loaf in Abergavenny.
The summit of the iconic peak affords a 360 degree view across the Beacons, Black mountains and Usk valley, a deserving reward for the 596m (2,000 ft) climb.
Under starter's orders, the runners climbed 340m to Tywn-yr-allt through ancient oak woodland, and then across open, windblown Deri before the assault on the sugarloaf began.
The race marshals were a welcome sight as the runners rounded the trig point at the summit and began the fast 3 mile descent to the finish.
Andrew Stephens had fire in his heels and again won the Male veteran 40-50 category, his time of 53 minutes earning him a superb second place overall.
