ONCE again Spirit of Monmouth Running Club had a great turnout at the Newport Half Marathon on Sunday 6th March, with 18 runners taking part and completing the course.
Some of the runners used the race as preparation for their upcoming marathons, and the club has runners taking part in spring marathons all over the country.
Julia Davis, Sarah Richards, Martin Blakebrough, Jeremy Masters, Luke Felton and David Mather all smashed their previous half marathon times. Nerys Chaplin also achieved a new personal best time and she was also the 23rd woman to cross the finish line in a field of over 1,000 runners while also finishing 15th in the female open category. Diane Smith also came fifth in her 60-plus age category.
The club meets twice weekly on Tuesday at 7.20pm and Thursday at 7pm at the Monmouth School Sports Centre. Runners of all abilities are welcome.
