FOURTEEN Spirit of Monmouth Running Club members took part in the Ross on Wye 10km race on Sunday 4th September.
The first runner home for the club was George Smith, who finished third in a field of more than 170 runners, with a time of 40 minutes and 15 seconds.
Next to finish was Toby Wales with a time of 46 minutes 55 seconds. The third man home was Martin Blakebrough, in 47 minutes 18 seconds.
The fastest female runner for the club was Nerys Chaplin, finishing in third place in the ladies’ race with a time of 48 minutes 21 seconds. Emma King was next home for the ladies in 53 minutes 49 seconds. Eleanor Kite was the third Spirit of Monmouth lady to cross the line, in 56 minutes 9 seconds.
The Monmouth ladies team also included Clare Ormiston, Jane Powell, Carol Usher, Sally Gilson, Hannah Hill and Sarah Clifton and were the winners of the ladies’ team prize.
This year the Ross on Wye 10k is a Club Championship race. Runners participate in a series of selected races throughout the year and the winning male and female are presented with a trophy at an awards ceremony at the end of the year.
