AFTER scoring goals for fun this season, Sudbrook CC went down to an astonishing 1-0 defeat at Tintern Abbey A.
The goal came from a penalty, scored by Geraint Reynolds.
"We just took the game to them from whistle to whistle, and they hated it," Reynolds explained.
Sudbrook had a chance to force extra time with a penalty of their own in the dying minutes but the spot-kick, taken by Rob Thorn, shaved the wrong side of the post.
Severn Tunnel A progressed to the semi-finals with a 4-1 home victory over Caldicot Castle.
Daryl Berry (2), Teilo Parker and 16-year-old Ethan Addis did the damage for Tunnel with Mike Griffiths firing in for Castle.
"Castle fielded a strong side and it was a good, competitive game played in the Christmas spirit," said Tunnel manager Steve Duddridge.
"I am pleased to progress to a second semi final of the season."
Undy are also in the hat for the semis after an 8-0 home win over Chepstow Athletic while Mathern's home tie with Underwood was called off because their pitch was waterlogged.
Two Division 2 games were postponed for the same reason but Caldicot Castle B drew 2-2 at home to Caldicot Town and Sudbrook CC B shared four goals with Chepstow Town B.
Meanwhile, Severn Tunnel B showed no sign of Christmas spirit when they beat their C team 5-1.
