IT would take more than some wet Welsh weather to dampen spirits on the pitch at Ross Hockey Club’s 2016 Hockey Fest last Saturday.

Despite the rain more than 67 children armed themselves with hockey sticks to try out their skills on the pitch at Monmouth Leisure Centre. The annual festival, designed to promote all things hockey, gives children of all ages a chance to learn some new skills and put them into action, under the guidance of players from Ross on Wye’s male and female squads.

The eager participants went away damp but happy, with a festival wristband and some well-earned sweets. Ross Hockey Club would like to thank Tudor Sweets in Ross-on-Wye for providing the goodies for the five-10 year old group.

In the 11-13 age category Florrie Taylor was named Player of the Match by her peers on the day and won a family voucher supplied by Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo and Laser Tag centre. Meanwhile in the 14 plus category Amie Jenkins walked away with a family session of stand up paddle boarding provided by SUPYOFI at Symmonds Yat. A huge thank you goes out to all the players who took part on the day.
