ROGUERUNS is giving 25 per cent of runners' entry fees to Comic Relief for its off-road night race being held on Thursday 12th March at Mallards Pike.
The race is the day before Red Nose Day, so organisers felt it was an ideal opportunity to tie the race in and raise some cash for worthy causes.
Runners can also raise more money for Comic Relief through sponsorship through a special form on Rogueruns' website – http://www.rogueruns.com">www.rogueruns.com.
The off-road night race, starting at 7.30pm, is the last in Rogueruns' winter off-road night series, and is the group's favourite course.
It is a single lap of around five miles with a great variety of running terrain featuring pleasant undulations, fully taped twisting paths in dense woodland, single track mountain bike trails on pine needles, muddy footpaths, and clean leafy paths on ridges.
There will also be some smooth gravel paths around the lake and some forest fire track to help get the runners spread out at the start – it will certainly be challenging.
Race headquarters will be in Rogueruns' heated giant marquee next to GoApe, by the side of Mallards Pike Lake, where Clare Grant will be providing free hot drinks and her legendary home-made cakes to all finishers. There will be ample car parking and toilets.
Race organiser Paul Dodd said: "We are proud to be supporting Comic Relief through our off-road night race.
"Not only will taking part in the event give runners a sense of personal achievement, but they will also be helping to alleviate suffering of others in the world."
For any runners who have taken part in Rogueruns' first three events of the season, this final one is free to them.
The cost to enter the race is £12 for runners who are affiliated to a running club, and £14 for unaffiliated runners, with a £2 surcharge for entries on the day.
