Monmouth Netball Club is growing in size all the time and now has four senior teams along with a number of junior teams who are all playing competitive netball across the county.

Monmouth Netball Club's first team were promoted to the Premier Division of the SE Wales Netball League this season and the club's second, third and fourth teams all play in the Wye Valley League, which is based in Monmouth.

The league is dual venued at Monmouth Lesuire Centre and Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls on a Tuesday night and was founded by Monmouth Netball Club in 2005 after they decided they wanted to help and improve women's sport in the local community.

Monmouth Juniors have joined the SE Wales Junior League for the first time this season, their young players starting at under 11 right through to under 17 are looking forward to taking part each month and playing some competitive netball against teams from across south east Wales.

A Thursday evening is Monmouth Netball Club's training night for both juniors and seniors.

You can join the club from the age of five, Monmouth Munchkins train on a Thursday night from 5pm in the School Gym at Monmouth Comprehensive School and they are coached by Zoe Crossley and Donna Morgan.

Monmouth Juniors start from aged 10 upwards and are coached by Laura Griffiths and Tracey Hodgson, they train at Monmouth Lesiure Centre at 6pm which is followed by senior training at 7pm which is taken by Emma King and Sally Price.

The club also hopes to be able to offer Netball Tots in the future to those who have younger children who you feel may be interested in playing netball and would like to improve their balls skills.

All the club's coaches are qualified and there are often guest coaches from Welsh Netball who take sessions.

They would like to congratulate Emma King on passing her Level Two coaching over the summer.

Chairman Sally Price said she was very happy with the way the club is growing.

"We always welcome new players of any ability as there is a team for everyone," she said.

"There is a lovely social side and our next event is our annual Hallowe'en Party being held at MRFC on Saturday 2nd November.

"The club would like to thank everyone who has kindly agreed to become a sponsor for the new season and support women's sport in the local community."

All four of the senior teams have made a great start to the 2013/2014 season, all taking a win.

Monmouth's first team took their first win against Newbridge B 42-25 and captain Emma King was very pleased about their performance, feeling postitive about their upcoming game against Newport B.

Player of the match was given to Lisa Small and players' player to Kali Jade Cross.
