Monmouth School 1st XI football team have been crowned Mercian League Champions following a 5-3 victory, beating Northern League winners Denstone College at Ludlow Football Club on Wednesday 20th March.
In a breath-taking opening 20 minutes, Monmouth went three goals ahead with goals from Matthew Nash, John Parker and Torin Hillman. Just before half-time Denstone came back into the contest with a well taken free-kick and header. Monmouth captain, George Johnson, lifted the tempo in the second half and scored early on to go 4-1 up, Rhys Williams slotted home from the penalty sport to round off the deserved victory.
