Saturday 12th October sees the 2013/ 14 jumps season begin in earnest at Chepstow Racecourse, and to mark the occasion the Welsh track will host a Jump Legends Raceday that features a jockeys' legends race, a parade of equine superstars and £100,000 in prize money.
Sponsored by Bet Victor, the raceday will raise money for two great causes; The Bob Champion Cancer Trust and Spinal Research.
Ten former jockeys have agreed to roll back the years to ride in the one mile and seven furlongs charity contest, subjecting themselves to months of training and dieting. The field includes:
• Three Grand National winning jockeys – Carl Llewellyn, Brendan Powell and Jimmy Frost
• A trio of Gold Cup Winning jockeys – Adrian Maguire, Graham Bradley and Jim Culloty
• Current assistant trainers Jim McCarthy and Kevin Mooney
• With Richard Rowe and Luke Harvey completing the legendary line-up.
Horse racing's ultimate legend – 18 times champion jockey AP McCoy – is lending his support to the raceday and will officially start the charity contest at 2pm.
In addition to the celebrity jockeys, there will be a parade of equine legends. Leading the spectacle will be Big Buck's, the greatest staying hurdler in history, with 23 wins and more than £1.25m in prize money to his name, supported by former stable mate Neptunes Collonges.
Phil Bell, executive director of Chepstow Racecourse, said: "We look forward to welcoming all the legends to Chepstow Racecourse to celebrate the start of the jump season.
"The charity element complements our enhanced £100,000 raceday which is set to attract highly competitive fields and will provide racegoers with an invaluable insight into the season ahead."
Advanced tickets are available from £18 via chepstow-racecourse.co.uk or by calling 01291 622 260.
