As you will have seen in last week's Beacon (28th December), locally-trained horse Le Beau Bai powered over the winning line to claim the winning place in the Coral Welsh National on 27th December.

The race began just after 2pm with a clean start off the line, the bookie's favourite Giles Cross taking an early lead with Le Beau Bai close behind.

The two leading horses ran a strong race throughout, separating themselves from the rest of the runners from the start. The remaining runners were left trailing behind, a sight which the race's commentator described as having the horses "strung out over Wales".

Despite creating distance between himself and Le Beau Bai at one point, Giles Cross was seen to be visibly tiring over the final fences, leaving Le Beau Bai to sweep past with only two jumps to go after the three-mile slog.
