The Harriers will be attempting to run a total of 130 miles to celebrate the running club’s 130 anniversary.
The relay will start from Chepstow Castle, and around 50 Harriers will run at least one lap of the one mile course.
The lap follows a loop through town, then to the top of the Dell to return back to the castle. The event will start at 7pm, run through the night and should finish around 7pm on Saturday 23rd July.
It is a tough, hilly mile, and Harriers will either run their loop(s) on their own, or with family, friends and fellow Harriers. Even Chepstow mayor, Councillor Paul Pavia, will doing a lap.
Working in shifts, there will be many helpers to keep records of runners and times; maintain a presence at the site; provide enthusiasm and refreshments and to chat to passers-by.
The club welcome people to come and see them, and give them a cheer as theye run. The mile course will be measured and marked and a post event celebration will happen in the Castle Inn pub at the end.
Relay organiser Gerry Ashton said: “It is a great challenge, something to be proud of, celebrating the long history of the club with a long run, involving a large number of club members.
“We think it’s a perfect way to showcase our club, attract new members, and demonstrate we are always up for a unique challenge.”
