A MONMOUTH youngster has signed a deal with a League One football club.
Sean Mcbride, a six-year trainee at Monmouth pre-academy, has signed a two year academy contract with Swindon Town.
This takes him to the end of his school years, where a decision will be made for a youth training scheme contract with the club.
“Sean has been the perfect trainee in his work ethic manner and dedication,” said Jeff Seymour, one of Sean’s mentors at the academy and a Leicester City scout.
“He now has self belief in his ability. He is self motivated and a great lad.
“His progress from the age of eight has been vast.
“His first game last week was at Anfield against Liverpool Academy under 15s.
“Sean is a strapping lad with great power and strength, he can get the ball down and play as a motivator of players, a ball winner or a central defender.
“We know Swindon are very pleased with him” he added.
“We are sad he is leaving as Swindon train on Mondays, our main night. He has a great opportunity now though, and we wish him all the best for his continued progress with Swindon Town in the future.”
