ROCKFIELD Rovers bounced back from a 7-3 home loss to East Gwent 2 leaders Chepstow Town 3rds, by downing them 4-3 away.

Tommy Tynan set up Sam Deighton to put Rovers in front on 27 minutes before Tom Mulvaney doubled the lead on 39 minutes.

The Jockeys hit back two minutes later for 2-1 at half-time, before levelling mid-way through the second period.

But five minutes later Tynan put Rovers back in front, and then added a second to seal the deal three minutes from the end of normal time.

Chepstow hit back nine minutes into stoppage time, but it was too late to deny the Monmouth outfit, who closed the gap at the top to three points with two games in hand.

Tintern Abbey, who host Rockfield this Saturday (November 8), also hit visitors Underwood 2nds for six without reply, Evan Fisher firing a hat-trick, Andrew Sincock a brace and Harry Hoskins one, leaving the Wyesiders fourth.

Chepstow's Thornwell R&W 2nds were beaten 5-1 at home by EG1 high-flyers Undy 3rds last week, but bounced back in Saturday's Brian Reed Cup first round with a 2-0 win at Severn Tunnel, Simon McCluskey firing them in front in the first minute before doubling up 11 minutes later.

Tintern had to give second best though, bowing out 2-1 at home to Undy 3rds, Dave Perrett their scorer.

Elsewhere, Redbrook Rovers lost 2-1 at Yorkley in a North Gloucestershire One table-top battle, Joe Stephens striking from distance to go in front but the Foresters hitting back to take the points.

Rovers' 2nds also missed out 6-2 at home to Staunton & Corse A, Cai Dorrington and Reuben Gonzalez on target.
