MATHERN Reserves B’s home game against Castle B was postponed because the visitors were unable to raise a team, while Tunnel C restricted Thornwell B to a 4-1 victory despite only having 11 players.

Manager Ron Atkins described his side’s goal as a “worldie” scored by James Handy, who is known as “Messi” to his teammates.

“He shot from the right corner of the penalty area and curled it inside the far post,” he said.

“I do take pride in the fact that we don’t forfeit games. I asked the boys would they want to play if we only had seven players and they said they would rather play than forfeit games – it’s the spirit of Churchill, really,” he added.

Liam Parker, Steven Harrison, Charlie Hales and Connor Farquhar scored for Thornwell,

Matt Earley also hit four goals as Chepstow Town beat Portskewett & Sudbrook 9-2.

Matt Owen (three), Nicj Owen and Nick Nesbit completed Town’s tally with Dean Clough and Stuart Pearce replying.

Finally, Underwood B beat Tunnel B 3-1.
