SEVERN Tunnel A could reduce their gap at the top of East Gwent League Division One tomorrow as they visit fourth-placed Thornwell Red and White A.
Tunnel currently sit second, nine points behind leaders Mathern A who have two games in hand. With Mathern the only team in action last weekend, Tunnel, who haven’t played in a Division One game since December, could close the gap to six points with a win.
Mathern are unable to be promoted because their first team plays in the county league, and so promotion to Gwent County League looks to be a real possibility for the Rogiet-based club.
Meanwhile in the other games in Division One, third placed Underwood Athletic A welcome Caldicot Town, while Severn Bridge host Tintern Abbey.
Bottom-placed Caldicot Castle A host Chepstow Athletic. Castle are yet to score a point this season and their home clash with fellow strugglers Athletic could be a chance for the club to get some points on the board.
