CHEPSTOW Town were brought down to earth after last week's 3-1 Ardal South Cup win at league leaders Goytre, licked 4-2 at home by Lliswerry Lizards after going two goals in front
Mason Keepin-Davies on eight minutes and Giancarlo Gabbiadini on 16 minutes had the Jockeys riding high.
But the hosts were unhorsed, pulled back to 2-1 11 minutes before the break, and all-square on 64 minutes.
The Lizards then took the lead 15 minutes before time, and despite Chepstow pushing forward they were undone again five minutes into stoppage time, leaving last year's runners-up ninth.
Town neighbours Thornwell R&W also suffered a 2-1 loss at home to mid-table Riverside Rovers in Gwent Premier 2 after trailing 2-0 at half-time to 15th minute and 31st-minute goals.
Jehroame Edwards hit back after 51 minutes, but that was as good as it got, leaving the hosts with just the one win and second from bottom.
Usk Town also lost out 4-2 at home to high-flying GP2 outfit Pontnewydd United.
Jordan Loydall put the Island hosts in front after just three minutes, but four unanswered goals (15, 41, 65, 80) put Pont in pole position until an Aled Burkitt consolation three minutes into stoppage time, leaving the Green Army seventh.
Elsewhere, unbeaten Llanarth-based Glascoed FC followed up a 6-0 home win over Panteg 2nds with a 4-0 victory away to Mardy 2nds to go second in Gwent Central 1.
Goals from Josh Thomas (7, 37), Gary Phillips (48) and Andrew Lewis (53) made it six wins from six.
But Usk Town 2nds were downed 4-1 away to Tranch 2nds in the GC Benevolent Cup, Matthew Galletley with the consolation.
Chepstow Town 1sts hosts Brecon Corries in Ardal South East this Saturday afternoon (November 8).
