Welsh League Division One - Monmouth Town FC 4 Cambrian and Clydach BGC 1

MONMOUTH Town FC ran out 4-1 winners at home to a young Cambrian and Clydach BGC side in Welsh League Division One on Saturday (17th March), thanks to an Elliot Ford hat trick.

After losing 4-1 in the reverse leg earlier this season, Monmouth got off to a good start as Elliot Ford’s ambitious shot from 20 yards out hit the post and went into the top corner.

Despite Cambrian dominating the last 10 minutes, Monmouth ended the first half still in the lead.

The visitors came out the blocks quickly in the second half and before long equalised, but Monmouth were soon back in front. Lewis Davies ran at Cambrian’s defence and put Elliot Ford through one on one with the keeper, and calmly slotted his shot past him for his second.

Then, Bradley Flay made it 3-1 after catching the keeper in no mans land, scoring from the edge of the box.

With the three points looking safe, Elliot Ford got his hat trick. Brad Flay played it across to him and Ford had chance to take a touch before his deflected shot found the back of the net.

The Kingfishers are next in action on 31st March, when they welcome Haverfordwest County to the Sportsground.
