Chepstow Town Under 14s slipped to a third consecutive defeat last week, this time against Monmouth Town.
Just as in the defeats at Garden City and Thornwell, Chepstow Town never looked overawed and even as they slipped to a home loss, this was a display that will add to their belief that they can pick up some points in weeks ahead.
The game saw an influential performance by Chepstow captain Harry Martyn, who capitalised on a Monmouth defensive error to provide Chepstow Town with a lifeline towards the end of the first half.
Second half goals by Chepstow Town strikers Harry Thorne and Ben Thomas added a further two goals for the home side, following some excellent build up play by fellow forward Joe Hopkins.
Chepstow continued to push the away side in the second half, but couldn't avoid defeat.
Man-of-the-match was awarded to central defender George McCarron by Chepstow Town assistant manager Paul Roberts.
A week earlier, Chepstow lost 5-2 at Garden City Blacks.
A double strike from Chepstow Striker Ben Thomas was not enough to hand the away side what would have been a deserved second league win of the season in the East Gwent Junior Fixture.
Early efforts from Chepstow's Harry Thorne, Harry Martyn, Ben Thomas, Reg Bynon, Joe Hopkins and Ethan Dunscombe all went agonisingly wide of the target, in what proved to be a dominant display from the away side.
Remarkably the first half ended level at 1-1 with the missed opportunities not reflecting the away side's performance.
Midway through the second half Garden City took a 2-1 lead with a piece of clinical finishing.
A pin point cross by Dunscombe allowed Thomas to claim his second and a Chepstow Town equaliser.
But Chepstow's earlier missed opportunities in the first half would come back to haunt them.
City took a 3-2 lead from the restart, with the home side taking full advantage of the weary Chepstow limbs to claim two late goals to seal the tie.
