With less than 50 days to go before the 2012 Olympic Games, Monmouth runners have been taking part in the torch relay throughout south Wales.

Emma King, the events organiser for the Spirit of Monmouth Running Club, was given the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch on its route through Pontypool.

Chosen for the relay because of her continued commitment to supporting ABF The Soldier's Charity, Emma will have raised more than £14,000 since she started running with the club three years ago.

"The running club is very proud of Emma and all of the members who help raise funds for charity through the various running events," said club chairperson Sian Stroud.

The Spirit of Monmouth Running Club will continue to support other charity events throughout Olympic Year including the second Wye Run challenge on 15th September at the Monmouthshire Show Ground and the Santa Fun Run in December.
