TWO football clubs are joining forces to start what they hope will become an annual event.
The event, called the Castle Wood Family Fun Day, begins this Sunday (12th July) at 12pm and offers three football matches, music, food and a bouncy castle.
The idea came about after Caldicot Castle Football Club stepped in to help East Gwent Senior League side Underwood Social Club when their pitch was unfit during the winter.
Castle offered Underwood the use of their second pitch, showers and hospitality for their after-match refreshments, and said the event will be reversed each year.
"Both clubs share a mutual respect and appreciation of each other, with Castle helping Underwood field games at their pitch many times over the past seasons," said Underwood A's manager Sean Johnson.
"This is further evidence of this bond, with the fixture being reversed each season."
Castle's club secretary Sian Adams is keen to see the event becoming a regular feature of the pre-season programmes of both clubs.
"It would be great to see and meet as many old and new faces as possible," she said.
"Both clubs are hugely family-oriented and together we think we can bring an amazing event to life."
