Chepstow's Sunday team lost by six wickets to Abergavenny at the weekend despite a fine knock of 64 by Gareth Ansell.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Ansell put on 103 for the first wicket with opening partner Scott Bailey (44).
Ricky Sahabdeen cracked three boundaries on his way to 20 but Chepstow's middle order failed to fire and they collapsed from 122-2 to 143-6.
Paul Bennett, with an unbeaten 36, and Josh Tregaskes (21) took Chepstow to a respectable total although there was still time for a late flurry of wickets for Abergavenny.
Chepstow eventually finished on 201-9 from their 40 overs.
Matthew Knight was the pick of the Abergavenny bowlers, taking 4-23 from seven overs.
Lewis Holley took 2-17 from four overs, Greaves 2-35 and Chaitanya Sanapala 1-50.
Chepstow's bowlers made fine inroads into the Abergavenny batting line-up after the break, with Tregaskes (2-28) and Jack Farrant (2-35) leaving them on 47-4.
But the dismissal of Richie Roberts for 23 brought together Lewis Parfitt and Lewis Holley, who went on to make 94 not out and an unbeaten 56 respectively to see Abergavenny to 204-4 with 15 balls to spare.
Chepstow 1st XI's home game againt Tondu, the 2nd XI's away game versus the same opponents and the thirds' match against Pontypridd were all cancelled last Saturday without a ball being bowled thanks to the weather.
Next Saturday (24th August), the firsts take on Panteg away from home in the Thomas Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League Division One before a home game against Penarth on Bank Holiday Monday.
