Despite a definite end to the summer with a rather wet and chilly day on Sunday, Monmouth Autumn Head was very successful for MCSBC, with wins in 10 events.

Great enthusiasm and effort was shown by everyone helping to create an incredibly positive atmosphere despite the poor conditions.

Plenty of support from the banks was welcomed from family, friends and Monmouth residents, helping to support all of the crews to the finish line.

With the first win of the day going to the boys 16 quadruple sculls, the day started very strongly.

Ben Warmington and Henry Edwards gained their first rowing wins in the J15 quadruple sculls.

This underlined a strong day for the boys with seven wins on the day, including the J18 quadruple sculls crew which raced hard for a tight win as the fastest crew of the day and Ollie Pearce who beat 21 other scullers to win the most competitive class of the day.

The girls had many very promising races against tough competition, with Emily Richards in two of their winning crews.

Every crew, despite not all winning, showed a great amount of pride in their school and boat club, racing with vigour and determination.

With an event at Worcester in just a few weeks, this is a fantastic start for the club and bodes well for the rest of the season, as MCSBC hopes to build on last year's record number of wins by giving more youngsters the opportunity to be the best that they can be.
