Monmouth Under 12s started the new year kitted out in new shirts and jackets thanks to sponsors Dawley Estates Plumbing and Heating.
The side battled to a five-five draw against Chepstow last Sunday (8th January).
The pitch was more mud than grass, which stiffled the fast passing game Monmouth play and a few errors at the back saw Monmouth slip to three-nil down at half-time.
Despite having most of the ball they failed to open the Chepstow defence up.
In the second half Monmouth took control of the game and the forwards ran rings around the defence.
The score was three-three after 15 minutes thanks to a hat-trick from man-of-the-match Joe Baylis.
Chepstow hit back on the break to make it four-three before a goal from Lewis Davies evened things up again.
Chepstow then punished Monmouth for hunting for the winner but scoring on the break for five-four with five minutes to go, this game was not over.
The midfield tightened their grip on the game and a Sam Vaughan header made it even again.
The pressure mounted from corners but Monmouth withstood a Chepstow goalmouth seize in the last minutes.
The whistle blew with the score even, two points rescued.
Monmouth still have to play the top two teams and their hopes of lifting the title are still very much alive.
