SIR, I would like, through your pages, to congratulate Waitrose in Monmouth on its new parking payment system. While I enjoy free parking as much as the next man, I do not enjoy driving in circles around the car park for hours searching, often in vain, for a space. The new charges discourage dog walkers from using the car park to take their pet over Chippenham fields, freeing it up for actual Waitrose customers.
