A YEAR three pupil from Haberdashers’ Monmouth School has been long listed in the Booker Prize Foundation’s competition to select three child judges for the Children’s Booker Prize 2027.
Ollie C impressed the judge in the opening round of the competition and has been invited to take part in the next stage of the prestigious national competition.
The achievement has been welcomed by staff at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School, where reading plays a central role in school life. The school’s Prep School has developed a strong culture of reading, supported by a vibrant library that encourages pupils to discover new authors, explore different genres and develop a lifelong love of books.
With its extensive collection of titles, welcoming spaces and regular opportunities for pupils to engage with literature, the library has become a hub for young readers and aspiring writers alike.
The recognition comes during the National Year of Reading, which highlights the importance of reading for pleasure and aims to inspire more children and young people to discover the joy of books.
