One woman was killed and five others injured in a car crash north of Tintern on Sunday (7th September). The two-car collision happened at midday on the A466. It involved a blue Ford Fiesta and a grey Opel Manta. 79-year-old Beryl Ellis from Wyesham, Monmouth, was travelling in the back of the Ford Fiesta and died at the scene. Three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital with leg and neck injuries. A man travelling in the Opel Manta has suffered life-threatening injuries and a female passenger received leg injuries. All injured parties were taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment. The Ford Fiesta was travelling south towards Chepstow and the Opel Manta was travelling north towards Monmouth. Gwent Police is appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicles on their journeys prior to the collision. Call 101 quoting log 272 07/09/14.
