Wyesham Wanderers travelled down to Caldicot Castle on Saturday looking to improve on the 1-2 defeat suffered at home earlier in the season against them.
Wyesham got off to the worst start possible by conceding with only minutes. Castle went on to control much of the first twenty minutes with Wanderers struggling to find their feet. However with 23 minutes gone Wyesham equalised when Liam Radnor was brought down with a clumsy challenge. James Meredith's long range free kick proved to powerful for the Castle keeper, who could only parry the ball. Garon Powell was on hand to snap up the rebound. With the first half coming to an end another silly challenge gave Wyesham a free kick. This time Steven Ryan stepped up and unleashed an unstoppable shot to give Wanderers the lead. The second half started and Radnor immediately scored Wyesham`s third when he hassled the ball from the Castle defence and fired his shot under the keeper. With thirty minutes remaining and Wyesham two goals up they seemed to take their foot off the pedal, allowing Castle to play some good football. They got a second goal to get themselves back into the game. Minutes later Castle were awarded a penalty but keeper James Brown gave his side hope with an outstanding penalty save. Wanderers seemed to self destruct and conceded five goals in a last twenty minutes they would like to forget.
