Wyesham Wanderers 1

Undy  B          1

League football returned to Monmouth show ground on Saturday with Undy the visitors. With both teams having little success in the cup competitions, getting back into league action was important and it showed straight from the kick off.

The visitors kicked off and showed their intent immediately with a long range effort. With both teams starting with attacking formations, the game was end to end, and only strong defensive displays prevented either team from scoring in the first thirty minutes of play.

With thirty seven minutes on the clock it was Undy that broke the deadlock when a swerving drive deceived the Wyesham keeper, who could only parry the ball into the striker's path to score. Wanderers refused to let the goal distract them and almost got themselves back into the game on the forty first minute.

Liam Radnor's amazing run and perfect through ball was snatched upon by Powell, but his shoot sailed inches wide. The second half started in the same fashion as the first with both teams constantly attacking.

In the sixty seventh minute Wanderers deservedly grabbed their equaliser when Townsend's cross was met by Powell's powerful header.

Wyesham captain Dan Cox commented "We played well again today. We did miss a couple of players but the boys that came in did a good job. Both teams looked threating and it could have ended 4 - 4. The draw is a fair result as, excluding the cup games , we`ve started a bit of a run now, hopefully we can keep it going."

Wyesham Wanderers would like to thank Valley Construction Ltd, Eagle Plant and Rage Rotors for their continued support. Wyesham's next home game is on December 20th against Rockfield.
