Symonds Yat resident, Tom Dudziec-Durn, was on hand to take these photographs of a controlled explosion on the Doward. He told The Ross Gazette:?"On Monday, January 21st a WW1 artillery shell was discovered in a house on the Great Doward, the police were called to the scene along with the bomb disposal service and the shell was successfully destroyed. Later it was found that it was not live." The shell was destroyed at about 3pm, five police cars attended along with the bomb disposal lorry.
