WITH winter on it’s way the problem of flooding is sure to arise again and Transition Monmouth Monmouthshire County Council and Natural Resources Wales are holding a flooding workshop to prepare.

Transition Monmouth’s Renewable Energy Community Schemes (RECS) with flood prevention and other benefits was started in January 2016. The group has now appointed W S Atkins as consultants to complete a flooding study of the area and Transition Monmouth, Natural Recourses Wales, Monmouthshire County Council and other stakeholders have worked with them during the summer.

They are now in a position to hold their first workshop to find out what the public think should be done to tackle flooding and where it should be done.

The study covers Monmouth and the surrounding area to include Skenfrith, Dingestow, Newcastle and Trellech

If the public know of roads within their area that are prone to flooding, they are welcome to attend the workshop and share their knowledge.

W S Atkins will provide an array of maps they have developed and would be grateful to receive comments and observations.

This a drop in session will be held on Friday 8th September at Monmouth Shire Hall from 1.30pm to 4pm.

There will be tea, coffee and biscuits and W S Atkins staff on hand to inform, help and discuss anything.

For those who can not attend but would like to contribute they can tag locations on the Transition Monmouth mapping portal - https://arcg.is/0KXfCz
