Local working mum of five, Amanda Edwards, has been crowned the winner of the inaugural Working Mum of the Year Award. Over 800 entries were received from across the country and the award was sponsored by Pitman Training and judged by Channel 4's Fairy Jobmother, Hayley Taylor and Netmums founder, Siobhan Freeguard.

Amanda, 40, who is a youth and community worker for Monmouthshire Youth Service, was nominated by her 13 year old daughter Kirstie, who said in her entry: "Mum is an inspiration to me and many others. She's been through so much but has always been so committed to her work."
