WORK is set to start on a church roof next month following a grant being awarded from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Raglan Raise the Roof Committee announced this week that, following the recent £147,000 grant and permission to start from the Heritage Lottery Fund, work will commence on repairing the roof of St Cadoc’s Church Raglan along with the upgrade of facilities within the church itself on 9th May.

This long-awaited news follows the success of the 30 month campaign to date which has seen many grants awarded. These in addition to the amazing community fund raising which now stands at over £35,000 has ensured that the 14th century church can be repaired so that it may continue to provide a place of worship and community events for many years to come.

Recent community events have included a coffee, cake and chatter coffee morning which raised £389 and a quiz night hosted by local Conservative Assembly Member candidate Nick Ramsay which raised £420.

During the works, the church building and surrounding area will be fenced off for security purposes and there will be very limited access to the building on Mondays to Fridays while the contractors are working on the site. It is hoped that the disruption, which will likely last until the end of August, will not cause too much inconvenience.

Anyone with any questions in regard to the works should contact Neville Crump on 01291 690355.

Fundraising will continue throughout the year to ensure that all costs for the project are met. Grand Raffle tickets go on sale on 1st May with a treasure hunt taking place on the 26th June. Contact Beverley on 01291 691991 for fund raising event details.
