Sculptor Chris Wood of Woodart works (WAW) has made a start on transforming the trunk of the Bridges’ Cedar of Lebanon into a work of art.

As reported in the Beacon last week, the tree in the grounds of the Monmouth community centre was shortened to a trunk after a diagnosis of disease and a victim of storms.

Chris has been working professionally as an artist since he established WAW in 1999.

Since starting WAW he has worked on hundreds of projects each one different to the next, from children’s workshops making masks or lanterns etc, to giant chainsaw sculptures, or shop displays on Oxford street.

He has also worked in Spain, the Canaries and Abu Dhabi as well as all over the UK, for various festivals, schools, councils and other associations.

He said: “The diversity in my work has given me valuable and unique experience, that has constantly pushed me to new levels and has been very rewarding.”
