THE festive celebrations of Xmas and New Year didn’t stop DVLA officials from trawling local roads for untaxed vehicles, with several being clamped, including one in Monmouth’s high street.
It costs £260 to release a clamped car on the street, which includes a £160 deposit against road tax, which may be refunded if the car is subsequently taxed.
A car which was clamped before Christmas in Monnow Street in front of Coracle Woman was still there unreleased this week, although a clamped car in nearby Goldwire Lane was reportedly released shortly after being immobilised.
Anyone who owns a clamped car should call the number (0343 224 1999) on the back of the INF32 leaflet that was left on the vehicle.
